Should I lock into a fixed-rate mortgage if my variable interest rate starts to rise?

If your variable interest rate starts to rise, it is usually wise to lock into a fixed rate if you have quite some time before your variable-rate mortgage term ends. If variable rates are predicted to spike temporarily, it might be wiser to hold off changing into a fixed-rate mortgage.
