What mortgage documents are required to be pre-approved for a mortgage?

Preapproval for a mortgage requires documents that prove your income. Such documents include, but are not limited to your T1 tax return, a current pay stub or notice of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency. If you are self-employed, you will need to produce three years’ worth of tax returns in most cases. You may also need to document a business plan or business income.
